Old Rip the Horned Toad Eastland

According to local records and witnesses, when the first court house in Eastland was constructed in 1897 a toad was sealed into the cornerstone. Then when the county constructed a new court house in 1928 they broke the old cornerstone open and the toad was still alive. Unfortunately, a year later the toad died of pneumonia and when it did they put the toad in a glass casket and put it on display in the new court house where it sits to this day.
